YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College recorded a 3-0 shutout over Coker College in a non-conference women's soccer match Saturday (Sept. 6) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The match was delayed 75 minutes due to lightning midway through the second half. The Mountain Lions improved to 1-1-0 while the Cobras fell to 0-2-0. Young Harris hits the road for the first time in 2014 as they travel to Jefferson City, Tennessee, Wednesday (Sept. 10) for a 5 p.m. match against Carson-Newman University.
Young Harris struck early for a 1-0 lead as
Carly Rich scored from the top of the box and deposited the ball into the top left corner of the goal at the 5:00 mark.
The Mountain Lions, who outshot Coker 21-16, added another goal at the 60:17 mark on
Kaylee Bromell's rebound strike off Rich's initial shot. Just over two minutes later, Bromell drove down the left side of the field and then crossed it to
Julia DaSilva in front of the goal to take a 3-0 lead.

Arielle Charles recorded her first shutout in her career as she recorded nine saves, while Lizz Morris and Ashton Knopf combined to stop 14 shots for the Cobras.
