YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Christian Brothers University spoiled the season opener for the Young Harris College women's soccer team Thursday (Sept. 4) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field with a 2-0 decision.
The Mountain Lions return to action Saturday (Sept. 6) at 1 p.m. when they host Coker College.
CBU took a 1-0 advantage when Camilla Rodrigues' strike from just outside the box found the right corner of the next in the 16th minute. Rodrigues added an insurance goal with less than 10 minutes to go on a direct kick from 25 yards out.
The Buccaneers held a slim 11-10 advantage in shots, but the Mountain Lions enjoyed a 7-4 margin in shots on goal. Amber Matthews, Sydney Baird, Dani Pena, and Kaylee Bromell each recorded two shots each for the Mountain Lions.
Robyn Wade recorded six saves for Christian Brothers in net while Arielle Charles had two for the Mountain Lions.
