No. 15 North Georgia defeats Young Harris

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The University of North Georgia defeated Young Harris College 7-1 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Tuesday (Sept. 30) afternoon at the UNG Soccer Complex in Battle of Blood Mountain contest.

The 15th-ranked Nighthawks improved to 8-1-0 overall and to 2-0-0 in the league while the Mountain Lions fell to 2-5-0 and 1-3-0. Young Harris returns home Saturday (Oct. 4) when they host No. 5 Columbus State University in a 1 p.m. PBC contest at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

Cicely Taliaferro and Rachel VanHorn each scored twice for North Georgia, while Dani Pena scored the Young Harris goal at 81:02 mark. Pena ripped a shot from outside of the box for her first strike of 2014.

Arielle Charles recorded nine saves in goals for the Mountain Lions while Mallory Sayre stopped two for the Nighthawks.
