Saints rally for 2-1 double overtime win over Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Gabbi Paiz scored knocked in a corner kick in the 104th minute as Flagler College defeated Young Harris College 2-1 in double overtime in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Saturday (Sept. 27) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

Flagler snapped a three-match losing streak and improved to 2-5-0 overall and evened its Peach Belt record to 1-1-0. Young Harris fell to 2-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play. The Mountain Lions travel to Dahlonega, Georgia, Tuesday (Sept. 30) for a 5 p.m. PBC contest against No. 22 University of North Georgia in the Battle of Blood Mountain.

Brooke DeLauder's corner kick was sent into to Cassie Fernandez who headed the ball to Paiz in the box and she tucked the ball inside the right post for the match winner. It was her first goal of 2014. Flagler held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks over the Mountain Lions.

Julia DaSilva gave Young Harris a 1-0 lead at the 64:35 mark when she converted a through ball from Dani Pena and knocked it in to the left corner of the net. It was her first goal of the season. The Saints equalized the match at 1 six minutes later when Megan Poth booted a ball from the left corner of the 18-yard box and into the top left corner of the goal. It was Poth's first goal of the season.

Young Harris, which outshot Flagler 19-13, had a chance to win the match in the waning moments as Emily Ober's shot hit the crossbar with 1:15 left in regulation. 

Arielle Charles, recorded eight saves in goal for the Mountain Lions, while Kaeta Choquette tallied six saves for the Saints.
