MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College got an early goal and hung on for a 1-0 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer victory over Young Harris College Wednesday (Oct. 8) evening at Bobcat Field.
The Bobcats improved to 3-7-1 overall and to 1-5-0 in the league while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-7-0 and 1-5-0. Young Harris returns to the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field Saturday (Oct. 11) when they host Armstrong State University in a 1 p.m. conference affair.
Abby Dalton gave Georgia College a 1-0 lead on a breakaway set up by an Allyease Schwartz at the 7:03 mark.
Young Harris put the pressure on the Bobcats, especially in the second half when they outshot Georgia College 7-5, but they couldn't find the back of the net. Dani Pena led the Mountain Lions with three shots, while Dani Heald and Emily Ober each tallied two attempts. Sydney Baird and Hanna Johnsson both added a shot for the YHC attack.
Young Harris' Arielle Charles and Georgia College's Annie Stephens each collected three saves for their squads in goal.
