PEMBROKE, N.C. – Rae-Shawna Campbell scored twice in the second half as the University of North Carolina at Pembroke defeated Young Harris College 2-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Saturday (Oct. 25) morning at Varsity Grounds.
The Braves improved to 10-3-2 overall and to 6-2-1 in the Peach Belt while the Mountain Lions slipped to 5-10-0 and 2-8-0. Young Harris closes out its regular season with a 1 p.m. Central time match at the University of Montevallo next Saturday (Nov. 1).
After the teams battled through a scoreless first half, Campbell's first goal came off a direct kick from teammate Courtney Crump at the 51:09 mark. Campbell added her 10th goal of the season 14 minutes when her close-range shot came off a cross from the right side from Amber Watkins.
Arielle Charles stopped seven shots in goal for the Mountain Lions while Janae Aiken recorded five saves for the Braves. Carly Rich paced Young Harris with three shots while Emily Ober and Madelyn Youngblood has two apiece. Dani Pena, and Hanna Johnsson also tallied a shot for YHC.
