MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Carly Rich scored two second-half goals as Young Harris College defeated the University of Montevallo 2-1 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Saturday (Nov. 1) afternoon at Varsity Field.
Young Harris ended its season at 6-10-0 overall and 3-8-0 inside the conference while the Falcons also didn't qualify for the PBC Tournament as they finished with a 1-12-1 overall mark and a 1-9-1 ledger in the conference.
Camilla Alderin gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead at the 13:22 mark before the Mountain Lions tied match at 1 in the opening minutes of the second half. Rich scored an unassisted goal as drove down the left side of the field at the 49:50 mark for Young Harris, which outshot Montevallo 20-13 (15-6 margin in the second half).
Rich then scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season with 12:19 remaining to give Young Harris a 2-1 lead. Rich, who drove down the outside left side of the field, scored off a pass from Julia DaSiva.
Arielle Charles recorded seven saves in between the pipes for Young Harris while Katie Pearson had six for the Falcons.
