MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Katelyn Graham scored twice in the first half as Christian Brothers University defeated Young Harris College 3-1 in a non-conference women's soccer match Sunday (Sept. 8) afternoon at Signaigo Field.
The Bucs improved to 1-0-1 while the Mountain Lions fell to 1-1-0. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 11) when they host North Greenville University in a 5 p.m. match at the YHC Lacrosse Field.
Graham gave Christian Brothers a 1-0 lead at the 12:33 mark on her curling shot into the top of the net from the right side. Ten minutes later another Graham strike gave the Bucs a 2-0 lead. Mariana Tonelli dropped to Camilla Rodrigues, who then crossed it to Graham at the back post. Graham then hit a sliding shot into the goal.
Young Harris cut the deficit in half to 2-1 as Whitney Thomas scored her second goal of the season at the 63:52 mark. Thomas' goal was set up by a through ball from teammate Rachel Hill. Thomas The Bucs added an insurance goal less than eight minutes later on an Alex Bickenbach off a Tonelli assist.
Taylor Erickson grabbed six saves in net for the Mountain Lions while Robyn Wade had one for the Bucs.
