No. 15 North Georgia rallies for 3-2 overtime win over Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Jessica Dacey's goal 2:22 into overtime gave the University of North Georgia a 3-2 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer victory over Young Harris College Saturday (Sept. 21) afternoon at a rainy YHC Lacrosse Field.

The 15th-ranked Nighthawks, who rallied from a 2-0 deficit, improved to 5-1-0 overall and to 1-0-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 2-3-0 and 0-1-0. Young Harris will return to action Wednesday (Sept. 25) when they travel to Aiken, S.C., for a 3 p.m. match against the University of South Carolina Aiken.

Shannon Coulombe dribbled down the right side of the field and crossed it to the back post to Dacey, who knocked in her first goal for the match-winner.

Young Harris jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Amber Matthews headed the ball in off a set piece off a Sydney Baird corner kick. It was Matthews' first goal. The Mountain Lions doubled their lead 20 minutes later. Allison Burnham served the ball into Candace Edwards who put in in the right corner off a sliding kick. It was Edwards' team-leading fourth goal of 2013.

North Georgia began their comeback as Kelly Penston scored her sixth goal at the 40:46 mark. Cicely Taliaferro tied the match at 2 as she scored her first goal off a Megan Morrow corner kick at the 60:56 mark.

Young Harris' Taylor Erickson set a new college record as she stopped 18 shots while UNG's Mallory Sayre stopped none.
