MADISONVILLE, Tenn. – Young Harris College swept the three-game baseball series with Hiwassee College Sunday (April 1) afternoon at Tom Black Field with an 18-1 decision in seven innings.
The Mountain Lions, who outscored Hiwassee 36-1 in the series, improved to 26-9. Young Harris returns to Zell B. Miller Field Tuesday (April 3) with a 5 p.m. contest against Georgia College.
Young Harris, which scored in every inning but the third and seventh, pushed across five runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings. The Mountain Lions, who took advantage of 10 walks issued by five Tiger pitchers and three Hiwassee errors, banged out 11 hits.
David Atwood, Tyler Spradlin and Bowen Klosinski each drove in three runs for the Mountain Lions while Jack Morrow had two RBI. Mike Medori, Atwood, Zack Bricknell and Klosinski each collected two hits for Young Harris.
Tyler Isbell (5-2) earned the win as he struck out four in three innings while Cody Beck had six strikeouts in two innings of relief.
