MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Ashley Veilleux scored the lone goal as Georgia College defeated Young Harris College 1-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Wednesday (Oct. 3) evening at Bobcat Field.
The Bobcats improved to 5-6-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the Peach Belt while the Mountain Lions fell to 5-4-0 and 1-4-0. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (Oct. 6) when they host No. 7 Armstrong Atlantic State University in a 1 p.m. match at the Frances Wood Wilson Soccer Field.
Abby Dalton found Veilleux down the left side and she knocked it for her sixth goal of the season at the 37:12 mark to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
Georgia College held an 18-12 advantage on shots (7-6 on goal) over the Mountain Lions. Annie Stephens recorded her second shutout of the season, making all six stops. Mountain Lion goalkeeper Taylor Erickson made six saves.
