MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo scored twice in the first half en route to a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Saturday (Oct. 27) afternoon at Varsity Field.

The Falcons improved to 7-8-2 overall and to 4-6-1 in the conference to clinch the No. 8 seed in next week's PBC Tournament. Young Harris, which is not eligible to compete in the tournament, fell to 6-10-0 and to 2-9-0. The Mountain Lions wrap up their season Thursday (Nov. 1) when they travel to Rome, Ga., for a 7 p.m. match against Shorter University.

Jade Pennock gave the Falcons an early 1-0 lead in the 11th minute on a penalty kick following a foul in the box. Brittany Woodhouse finished a cross from Pennock in the 22nd minute to give Montevallo a 2-0 advantage. Young Harris got a goal back in the 32nd minute on a header by Mika Lopes off a cross from Kimmie Tierney. Christine Prince netted a goal in the 53rd minute off an assist by Camilla Alderin to add some insurance for the Falcons.
