Clayton State rallies for 2-1 win over Mountain Lions

MORROW, Ga. – Kevin Rodriguez's goal in the 68th minute was the difference as Clayton State University rallied for a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match over Young Harris College Wednesday (Oct. 24) evening at Laker Field.

The Lakers improved to 7-7-1 overall and to 3-5-1 in the league while the Mountain Lions fell to 12-4-1 and 4-3-1. Young Harris closes out its regular season with a 3:30 p.m. Central time match against the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala., Saturday (Oct. 27).

The Mountain Lions jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Lewis Hilton scored his fifth goal of the season. Mouhamed Bechir sent a short pass into the middle of the box to Hilton, who shot at point-blank range.

The Lakers tied the match at 1 in the 33rd minute as Bobby Jones headed the ball in off a corner kick from Jonny Evans. Clayton State scored the match-winner midway through the second half when Nomis Cisic sent in a long pass to Rodriguez, who beat his defender and shot the ball into the right corner of the goal.

Young Harris' Wezly Barnard and Clayton State's Matt Sutton each recorded four saves in goal.
