MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State University scored three goals – two by Pearl Slattery – in the second half as the Lakers defeated Young Harris College 3-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match at Laker Field Wednesday (Oct. 24) evening.
The Lakers improved to 10-6-2 overall and to 6-3-2 inside the league while the Mountain Lions fell to 6-9-0 and 2-8-0. Young Harris plays its final PBC match Saturday (Oct. 27) when they travel to Montevallo, Ala., for a 1 p.m. Central time match against the University of Montevallo.
 
Slattery gave Clayton State a 1-0 advantage when she scored from five yards out after receiving a pass from Josefine Holsten at the 59:59 mark. Slattery added another goal 10 minutes later on a give-and-go exchange with Lea Notthoff. The Lakers added their final goal with just under four minutes remaining as Danielle Fletcher scored an unassisted goal.
 
Laoise O'Driscoll tallied two saves for Clayton State to earn the shutout while 
Taylor Erickson had seven for Young Harris.
