YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Mika Lopes and Whitney Thomas each scored a goal as the Young Harris College women's soccer team recorded a 2-0 Peach Belt Conference shutout over Georgia Southwestern State University Saturday (Oct. 13) afternoon on Senior Day at Frances Wood Wilson Soccer Field.
The Mountain Lions snapped their four-match losing streak as they improved to 6-6-0 overall and to 2-5-0 in the Peach Belt while the Hurricanes fell to 2-10-1 and 0-8-0. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Oct. 17) when they host Lander University in a PBC match at Wilson Field.

Mika Lopes scored her fourth goal of the year at the 28:13 mark.
Whitney Thomas passed the ball to
Kimmie Tierney, who served the ball in from the right side to Lopes at the far post.
Young Harris, which outshot Georgia Southwestern 16-9, added an insurance goal when senior
Haley Holderfield played a through ball down the left side of the field to Thomas, who converted the opportunity for her fourth goal of the season at the 53:33 mark.
Yustin Nambo earned her first shutout of the year as she recorded five saves for the Mountain Lions while Amber Bahri turned away nine shots for the Hurricanes.
