MEMPHIS – Michael Hollier scored two goals, including the match winner in the 87th minute, as the Christian Brothers University men’s soccer team recorded a 3-2 decision over Young Harris College Sunday (Sept. 25) afternoon at Signaigo Field.
The Bucs improved to 6-2 overall while the Mountain Lions, who are ranked No. 6 in the NSCAA NCAA Division II Southeast Region, dropped their third consecutive match and are 5-3. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 28) when they travel to Pulaski, Tenn., to face Martin Methodist College in a 6 p.m. Central time match.
The Mountain Lions for the second consecutive match scored quickly. Trevor Monroe scored in the third minute as he beat his defender. The Bucs tied the match at 1 as Hollier scored in the 39th minute off a cross from Ralph Velasco. Jose Ferraz gave Christian Brothers a 2-1 advantage in the 65th minute.
Young Harris tied it at 2 as Mouhamed Bechir scored in the 83rd minute on a rebound after Martin Brain’s initial shot. Hollier scored four minutes later to give the Bucs the lead back as a rebound of his own after a YHC defender cleared away a ball in the box.
