YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Haley Holderfield’s goal midway through the first half helped Young Harris College shut out Mars Hill College 1-0 in a women’s college soccer match Wednesday (Sept. 14) afternoon at the Frances Wood Wilson Soccer Field.
The Mountain Lions won their third consecutive match to improve to 3-1-0 and handed Mars Hill its first loss of the season as they slipped to 4-1-1. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (Sept. 17) as they host Southern Wesleyan University at 2 p.m.
Young Harris scored the only goal that mattered at the 20:14 mark as Lauren Martin served the ball to Holderfield who knocked it past Mars Hill goalkeeper Becca Sellars into the left corner of the goal. It was Holderfield’s second consecutive match-winning goal for the Mountain Lions.
Young Harris goalkeeper Kelsey Cunningham registered her second shutout of the season as she recorded five saves.
