CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Young Harris College baseball team got a leadoff home run by Zach Bricknell, but Lee University scored 10 runs in the first two innings and didn’t look back as the Mountain Lions fell, 14-1, on Monday night.
Bricknell saw the very first pitch by Lee starter Jay Bolen and drilled it over the right field fence to give the Mountain Lions (15-12) a 1-0 lead.
However, the Flames (21-6) capitalized on a pair of walks and a hit batman in the bottom of the frame as Roberto Reyes belted a grand slam homer over the left-center fence and Lee added another run to take a 5-1 advantage into the second.
The Flames extended the lead to 10-1 with five runs on three hits in the second inning and continued the offensive output with three runs on two hits to push the advantage to 13-1.
Lee got a leadoff triple by Jonathan Clark and scored on a Michael Brown double to increase the advantage to 14-1.
Clint Ogle (0-1) started for the Mountain Lions, going 1.1 innings. He surrendered 10 runs (nine earned) on five hits and walked five. Billy Demersky, Blake Fortune, Nick Boutwell worked in relief.
Bolen earned the victory in pitching four innings. He gave up a run on three hits with a pair of strikeouts and a walk. James Rechenback and Ryan Zimmer pitched in relief.
