Mountain Lions, Eagles battle to scoreless draw

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College and Reinhardt University battled to a scoreless double-overtime draw in a men's soccer match Saturday (Oct. 15) afternoon at the Frances Wood Wilson Soccer Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 8-4-1 while the Eagles went to 7-3-1. Young Harris returns to action Tuesday (Oct. 18) when they travel to Montevallo, Ala., for a 3 p.m. Central time match against the University of Montevallo.

The two teams fired off 37 shots, including 26 tries from the Mountain Lions; however, the two goalkeepers were stellar between the pipes.  Zach Schultze recorded 15 saves for Reinhardt while Wezly Barnard notched his third shutout as he registered seven saves.

Young Harris' best chance to score in regulation came in the 74th minute when Niall McCabe's shot was cleared off the line by an Eagle defender. Reinhardt had two one-on-one chances against Barnard in the first overtime, but Barnard stuffed both of Sam Barnsley's scoring chances.
