BRISTOL, Tenn. – Allie Matulia made five saves, but the Young Harris College women’s soccer team fell Saturday afternoon to King College, 4-1.
Young Harris (3-3-1), which were whistled nine times for offsides, struck first as Emily Villas scored her fifth goal of the season in the seventh minute with a shot off a rebound to give the Mountain Lions a 1-0 lead.
King answered in the 20th minute as Maggie Lynskey scored on an unassisted goal and the Lady Tornado took a 2-1 advantage in the 25th minute as Hannah Shankle collected the ball off a rebound and slid it into the back of the net.
The Lady Tornado (1-6) continued their momentum, collecting a goal by Shankle off an assist by Abigail Shankle in the 35th minute to give King a 3-1 lead.
Morgan Shelton’s third goal of the season put the game away in the 83rd minute, giving the Lady Tornado a 4-1 advantage.
Abbey Kitts recorded five saves in goal for King.
The Lady Tornado had a 16-14 advantage on shots and led 7-1 in corner kicks.
The Mountain Lions return to action 3:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 27 at the YHC Soccer Field against Shorter University.
