ANDERSON, S.C. – Lasse Sohrweide scored a pair of first-half goals as the Anderson University men’s soccer team blanked Young Harris Thursday night, 6-0.
The Mountain Lions (0-3-3) fell behind 1-0 in the eighth minute as Ryan Messick’s shot was chipped over Young Harris goalkeeper Wezley Barnard and into the goal to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.
Sohrweide scored a pair of goals, first in the 15th minute off an assist from Zach Denson. His second goal came in the 28th minute as the ball bounced off Barnard and into the back of the goal to help Anderson to a 3-0 advantage.
The Trojans (3-2-1) added two more goals before the half as Mark Smith scored in the 29th minute off an assist by Daniel Bowers and Clement Samson found the back of the net in the 37th minute from a pass by Ryan Messick.
Denson scored on assist by Sohrweide in the 61st minute to complete the scoring.
Anderson out-shot Young Harris, 17-6, and had the edge in corner kicks, 4-1.
Barnard finished with three saves, while Lukas Hesse recorded three in goal for the Trojans.
The Mountain Lions travel 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22 to Marietta, Ga., to take on Southern Polytechnic State University.
