MORROW, Ga. – A goal in the first minute of overtime proved to be the game-winner as the Young Harris College women’s soccer team fought hard, but fell to Clayton State University, 1-0.
The Mountain Lions (7-5-1) battled the Lady Lakers (6-10) to a scoreless for the first 90 minutes of action, but Clayton State took advantage of a long shot to win the game in the 91st minute.
Natalia Valentine received the ball from the left flank from Cherie Sayon and fired a shot from 40 yards out past Young Harris goalkeeper Allie Matulia for the goal.
Matulia finished with five saves, while Stefania Cola had two for Clayton State.
The Lady Lakers out-shot the Mountain Lions, 20-8 and had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
