Karl Chavis has earned Mountain Lion of the Week honors after a stellar performance in the men's basketball team's lone contest against Shorter University, a Conference Carolinas opponent. Despite a winter storm limiting their schedule, the Mountain Lions made the most of their opportunity, defeating the Hawks 82-73 in front of a packed home crowd. Chavis led the charge, scoring an impressive 31 points while adding four assists and two rebounds. He was efficient from the field, shooting 12-of-21, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and was perfect from the free throw line, going 5-of-5. His outstanding play helped Young Harris maintain their perfect home record at 6-0 this season.

Head coach Jeremy Currier praised the team's resilience and determination, particularly highlighting Chavis's leadership and ability to perform under pressure. "Tonight was a good win for our team," said head coach Jeremy Currier following the win over Shorter. "We haven't played in almost three weeks; I was worried about having some rust on our game. We really emphasized pushing our fast break, and our guys found some good offense in transition. Karl Chavis was unstoppable in the open court, attacking the rim, and made some important 3s for us."
