Mathew Biwott has been named the Male Mountain Lion of the Week ending Oct. 25.
Biwott won the Peach Belt Conference Championship with a time of 25:49.5 on the 8K UNG Cross Country Course, a first in the program's history. The sophomore from Iten, Kenya, was in a two-man race with Augusta University's Nick Del Gurecio over the last half mile. Â Del Guercio moved ahead with under 300 yards to go, but Biwott, who was named to the All-PBC team, began a sprint to the finish to win by three seconds. Â Biwott's time was his second-fastest 8k of the season.

Young Harris tied its best-ever finish in the conference meet as they came in sixth place with 154 points in the race.Â
