As the Co-Faculty Athletics Representative, Professor of Communication Studies and Director of Academic Advising Jennifer Hallett, Ph.D., combines her love of sports with a desire to see Young Harris College's student-athletes succeed.

Hallet was named the Faculty Athletics Representativeof the year by Conference Carolinas in 2024. 

In this multifaceted role, Hallett oversees the academic integrity of the department of athletics and helps to ensure that all rules and regulations of the College, Conference Carolinas and the National Collegiate Athletics Association are followed. Her top priority is supporting student-athletes for academic and personal success at YHC and beyond.

Hallett joined the Young Harris College faculty in 2008 and specializes in intergroup and interpersonal communication topics including: language and social interaction; gender, family, nonverbal, intercultural, deception, relational, social dominance and conflict management. She has co-authored articles in Human Communication Research, Communication Research and Health Communication as well as book chapters in The Dark Side of Interpersonal Relationships (published by Erlbaum) and The New Handbook of Language and Social Psychology (published by Wiley). 

Hallett received her bachelor's degree in communication and psychology from Michigan State University. She received her master's degree in interpersonal communication with a minor in mass media effects and her doctorate in interpersonal communication with a cognate in intergroup relations from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
