Amanda Henderson begins her second season as an assistant coach for the Young Harris College softball program.
Henderson comes to the Enchanted Valley after spending a season at Truett-McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia. The Bears won 27 games in 2016 and their pitching staff was ranked 42nd in the NAIA with a 2.60 earned-run average.
Henderson played softball collegiately at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. She was a three-time All-Atlantic Sun Conference performer (first team in 2012 and second team in 2013 and 2014) and was named the 2013 KSU Female Student-Athlete of the year. Henderson holds the KSU single-season record for strikeouts per seven innings (9.11) and is ranked fifth in strikeouts in a season (205) and seventh in saves with four. Â The four-year standout with the Owls is ranked second on the all-time mark with 688 strikeouts, third in saves (8), fourth in innings pitched (586.1), fifth in strikeouts per seven innings (6.55), and eighth in wins (55)
After Kennesaw State, Henderson coached two seasons at her alma mater Eastside High School in Covington, Georgia. She was also active with the Georgia Knockouts (2014) and the Atlanta Power (2015-16) travel ball programs. She also served as a pitching instructor at the Diamond Sports Academy in Covington, Georgia.
Henderson graduated in 2014 with her bachelor's degree in English literature.Â
