Jason Williams begin his third season as the head coach of the Young Harris College competitive cheerleading team.
Williams joins Young Harris after spending the past four seasons as head coach at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Williams, who hails from Rome, Georgia, has had a successful career, both as a student-athlete and as a coach.
While as a student at Wallace State Community College he was part of a Universal Cheerleaders Association title in 2006. After transferring to Stephen F. Austin, the Lumberjacks won three titles in 2007, 2008 and 2010.Â
Williams, who earned his bachelor's degrees in kinesiology (2009) and criminal justice (2010) from Stephen F. Austin, then transitioned into coaching. He became an assistant coach at his alma mater and the small coed and large coed teams earned National Cheerleaders national titles. Williams became head coach in 2012 and saw the cheerleading program was expanded to three teams, adding an all-girl squad, which won the NCA Division I national title in 2016.
Williams is also in his second year as the department's assistant director of athletics for operations.
