Chase Carter begins his fourth season as the competitive cheerleading head coach at Young Harris College.
Carter has guided the Mountain Lions to the National Cheerleading Association's Collegiate Cheer Championships in each of the past three seasons. Young Harris' large coed team finished in fourth place last season after finishing in third place in 2014 and seventh place in 2013.
Carter came to the Mountain Lions after ,two seasons as an assistant coach with Shorter University's competitive cheerleading program.
Carter is a 2010 graduate of North Carolina State University where he graduated with scholar-athlete honors and with a bachelor's degree in program management. He cheered for five years with the Wolfpack, once placing second in the Division I-A Large Coed division at the NCA Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida, while also placing third twice and fourth twice. Over his career at N.C. State, Carter received several honors including the Rookie of the Year award and the title of co-captain in each of his last two years.
In his first year with Shorter in 2010-11, The Cary, North Carolina, native dealt primarily with the Large Coed squad and led the Cheer Hawks to a runner-up finish at the 2011 NCA National Championship by a narrow .04 margin.
Carter earned his Master's of Arts degree in leadership from the Professional Studies program at Shorter.
