YOUNG HARRIS, Ga| The Mountain Lions returned home today (Sept. 23rd) for a Conference Carolinas matchup with the Lions of Emmanuel University. The Young Harris defense was able to dominate the matchup, limiting Emmanuel to just four shots and only one shot on goal to complete the shutout and secure a 2-0 victory.
Young Harris now moves to 5-0-2 on the season and are 5-0 in Conference Carolinas.
In a defensive match, YHC was able to take a lead in the 39th minute of the first half. On a corner kick opportunity, Philip Abda delivered the crossing pass, and Ondrej Kopecky was able to find the bottom right corner on a header for his fifth goal of the year. Later in the match, Fredrik Berge would find the back of the net for his first goal of the season, taking a crossing pass from Ty Kuiper and converting to give the Mountain Lions a 2-0 lead. This lead would hold strong for the final 26 minutes to give the Mountain Lions a 2-0 victory.
Young Harris controlled the match, attempting 15 shots compared to just four for Emmanuel. Tommaso Morsoletto protected the goal all game with one save and multiple punch outs.
The Mountain Lions will return to action Saturday (Sept. 26th) when they travel to face the Lakers of Clayton State University.
