YOUNG HARRIS, Ga| Young Harris College has announced the hiring of Matt Ledon as the new head coach of the Young Harris College men's lacrosse program, Vice President for Athletics and Student Engagement Emily Carella announced today.

"There's something special about welcoming a Mountain Lion home," said Young Harris Vice President for Athletics and Student Engagement Emily Carella. "Matt Ledon knows what this place means because he's lived it, and now he gets to build the next chapter of Young Harris Lacrosse from the inside out. We couldn't be more excited to see where he takes this program."

Ledon, an alum and three-year captain of the YHC Men's Lacrosse team, returns to Young Harris with extensive coaching experience and a passion for developing student athletes.

"I am humbled and incredibly grateful to be named the next Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at Young Harris College," said Ledon. "As an alum of the college and lacrosse program, it is a dream come true to be able to come back home and lead this great group of young men at a place that means so much to me. From the first time I stepped on campus for a recruiting visit in 2012, I knew Young Harris was a special place, and I am excited to continue to build this program.  I truly appreciate Emily Carella, Randy Dunn, and the entire search committee for trusting that I can lead this program to be one of the premier lacrosse destinations in the south region and the NCAA. I am excited to get back home and cannot wait to get to work with this group! Go Mountain Lions!"

A native of Duluth, Ga, Ledon comes to Young Harris after being the Associate Head Coach since 2023, and Offensive/Recruiting Coordinator since 2019 at Anderson University. During his time at Anderson, Ledon led the #1 scoring offense in NCAA D2 during the 2026 season as well as producing the #2 scoring offense in the nation in 2025. This led to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, including reaching the Final Four in 2026. Additionally, Ledon helped lead Anderson to being the youngest program ever to be ranked in the USILA top 20 while coaching 29 All-SAC players, 15 USILA All-Region players, 10 USILA All-Americans and 5 Scholar All-Americans. Prior to Anderson, Ledon served as Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Greensboro College.

As a student athlete at Young Harris, Ledon put together an impressive career. From 2014-2018, he helped lead the Mountain Lions to a 2018 GLVC Regular Season Championship while also being named an All-GVC Midfielder in the same year. Throughout his four years, Ledon played in all 63 games for YHC.

Matt Ledon will begin his position as Men's Lacrosse Head Coach for this upcoming season.
