YOUNG HARRIS, Ga| Young Harris College has announced the addition of Wyatt Whipp to the Mountain Lions Cross Country/Track and Field staff as an assistant coach. Whipp brings an experienced athletic background, competing at Mississippi College for three years, including two appearances in the NCAA D2 National Meet, before transferring to Young Harris for his senior season.
A native of Baton Rouge, La, Whipp returns to Young Harris following a stellar senior season. This past season, Whipp was named First-Team All-Conference for cross country following a 3rd place finish at the Conference Carolinas Championship. Doubling as a track and field athlete, he showcased his ability with a 4th place finish at the Conference Carolinas Championship in the 10,000m. Whipp also displayed the definition of a student-athlete, being named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the Young Harris Cross Country/Track and Field program as an assistant coach," said Whipp. "I look forward to working alongside Coach Logan and Coach Dicicco to continue to build a successful program. Mentoring student-athletes is something I'm very passionate about and I hope to make a significant impact. I enjoyed my time here as an athlete, and I truly appreciate Coach Logan for trusting that I can bring a positive change to the program and welcoming me back."
"It's great to have Coach Whipp join the staff," said Young Harris Cross Country/Track and Field Head Coach Matt Logan. "This allows Coach DiCicco to take over operations, and Coach Whipp will be heading up our recruiting efforts. Coach Whipp knows how we run things in our program and will be a great asset for all current and future mountain lions. It's good to have him on board."
Wyatt Whipp will begin his tenure as assistant coach immediately for this upcoming season.
