BELMONT, N.C. | Young Harris women's soccer battled through a back-and-forth contest with Belmont Abbey on Saturday afternoon on the road at Alumni Field, ending in a 3-3 tie. Scarlett Hirschy scored twice for the Mountain Lions, including the equalizer in the 88th minute off a feed from Sunny Bowlin-Stacy. Bowlin-Stacy added a goal and an assist herself, giving YHC the spark it needed to stay even in a match filled with momentum swings.
The Mountain Lions are now 3-3-2 overall and 2-1-2 in Conference Carolinas action, while Belmont Abbey moves to 4-3-1 overall and 3-1-1 in conference play.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
· Hirschy led YHC with two goals on two shots on target.
· Bowlin-Stacy recorded three shots, all on goal, and finished with a goal and an assist.
· Goalkeeper Clara Williams tallied seven saves in 82 minutes of work, while Emily Jantz came off the bench to add three key stops in the final stretch.
· Belmont Abbey out-shot Young Harris 22-5 overall, but the Mountain Lions converted efficiently, putting all five of their attempts on frame.
· Gracie Smith anchored the YHC defense, playing the full 90 minutes.
