Next Chapter: Six Mountain Lions Carry YHC Legacy into Pro Baseball

6/12/2025 1:55:00 PM

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College Baseball continues to make its mark outside of the Enchanted Valley, with six former Mountain Lions currently competing in professional baseball across multiple MLB Partner Leagues and affiliated organizations.

Zachary Murray, who signed with the Cincinnati Reds organization in May, is currently pitching at the A level for the Daytona Tortugas. Over two standout years at Young Harris, Murray posted a 14-7 record with a 3.77 ERA and 186 strikeouts in 181.1 innings pitched. His 2024 campaign was especially dominant, finishing 9-2 with a 3.21 ERA across 101 innings, helping the Mountain Lions make their presence known as a force within Conference Carolinas Baseball. Previously, Murray shined with the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball.

Dylan Beck is continuing his professional journey with the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association, an MLB Partner League based in Lincoln, Nebraska. Beck became one of the most reliable arms in YHC history from 2022 to 2024, going 20-8 across 74 appearances while logging 195.2 innings with a 3.45 ERA and 158 strikeouts. He tallied 16 career saves, including 11 in his final season, and was instrumental in securing late-game victories throughout his career.

Three former Mountain Lions are suiting up for the Boise Hawks of the Pioneer League—another MLB Partner League—located in Boise, Idaho.

Jeremy Begora, one of the most feared hitters in program history, played 165 career games repping the purple and white. Begora recorded a .359 batting average with 209 hits, 47 home runs (YH Baseball HR record holder), and 184 RBI. In his three seasons played in the Enchanted Valley, he posted an on-base percentage of .489 and slugged .675 over his career. Jeremy dominated each and every season, adding 69 hits, 19 home runs, and 62 RBI in 2025 alone.

Ethan Underwood, a five-year contributor for the Mountain Lions, also plays for Boise. He hit .328 across 176 games, collecting 169 hits, 96 RBI, and posting a career on-base percentage of .447. His 2022 and 2023 seasons were especially productive, batting .355 and .328, respectively, while stealing 32 combined bases in those two years.

Graham Edwards, a 2025 graduate, rounds out the Hawks trio. The right-hander logged 75 innings and struck out 84 batters with a 3.24 ERA in his lone season at Young Harris. His consistent command and ability to limit base hits (.230 opponent average) played a major role in anchoring the rotation throughout the spring, leading to another YH Baseball 40-win season.

Meanwhile, left-hander Nate Lamb is pitching for the Down East Bird Dawgs of the Frontier League, which recently established its franchise in Kinston, North Carolina. Lamb posted a 14-6 career record over two seasons at YHC with a 4.27 ERA and 179 strikeouts in 168.2 innings pitched. In 2023, he emerged as the staff ace, going 8-1 with a 3.53 ERA in 14 starts and leading the team in innings and strikeouts.

All three leagues (the American Association, Pioneer League and Frontier League) are official MLB Partner Leagues that provide a platform for player development and growth. With former Mountain Lions now competing across the country and continuing to pursue their professional dreams, Young Harris College takes pride in its baseball alumni who are thriving at the professional level.

Whether toeing the rubber or stepping into the box, these Mountain Lions are proving they can play at the next level!
