YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Mountain Lions standout Maud Scholten has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Freshman of the Month following a strong April that capped off her first collegiate campaign. Scholten went 5-2 in singles play across seven matches, including a straight-sets win (7-5, 6-1) over Francis Marion in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. She also partnered with Holly Ashford to win three doubles matches during the month, with one match going unfinished.
Scholten, who was also named the league's Freshman of the Year, provided a steady presence for the Mountain Lions down the stretch, helping the team to a 4-3 record in April, including postseason competition. Her consistency and poise in both singles and doubles play proved vital to Young Harris' late-season success.
