YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College Athletics has set new department records for academic performance following the conclusion of the 2024-25 academic year.Â
For the first time in school history, every varsity athletic program at YHC recorded a team GPA of 3.0 or higher in both the spring semester and for the full academic year. The Mountain Lions also posted a department-record cumulative GPA of 3.525 for the Spring 2025 semester, marking a historic academic milestone.Â
Out of 337 total student-athletes this spring, 84.86 percent earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher, 61.12 percent achieved a 3.5 GPA or better, and 19.88 percent finished the semester with a perfect 4.0.Â
"I continue to be amazed by our student-athletes' accomplishments in the classroom," said Athletic Director Aaron Bessey. "Their academic achievements this year further illustrate the commitment to excellence in everything we do here at YHC."

Men's Tennis led all men's teams with a 3.85 GPA, followed by Men's Golf (3.76), Men's Soccer (3.71), and Men's Basketball (3.70)Â
The 2024-25 academic year marks a new standard of classroom excellence for Young Harris Athletics; reflecting the culture of Young Harris College that goes above and beyond on the field/court and the classroom.Â
