YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Congratulations to Graham Edwards and Riley Parker on being named Mountain Lions of the Week.
Graham Edwards of the YH Baseball team was electrifying on the mound in the Mountain Lions 5-0 win over Chowan in game two of what eventually turned into a Young Harris sweep. Dominant is an understatement for how Edwards pitched on Sunday, the graduate right-hander shoved for 6.2 innings, cutting down 16 Hawks via the strikeout. Edwards had a shutout going, with two outs remaining, but had thrown 119 pitches, and was pulled from the game. Upon exit, Graham Edwards received a standing ovation from teammates and fans at Zell B. Miller Field who saw his masterful performance.
Riley Parker of the Mountain Lions Women's Lacrosse team put together a great week for coach Hatton and company. Young Harris played two games, winning one. Parker was the X-factor for the Mountain Lions in their 18-13 win over Converse University. Riley scored seven goals, added two assists, recorded 11 shots (10 SOG), scooped up five ground balls, caused five turnovers, won eight draw controls, and went a perfect 4-4 in Free Position Shots. All together through the two games, Parker scored nine goals, picked up two assists, racked up 11 points, 14 shots (13 SOG), gathered seven ground balls, caused six turnovers, and won eight draw controls all on the road.
Edwards overpowering performance on the mound and Parker's commanding display have earned them this week's Mountain Lions of the Week honors.
