DUE WEST, S.C. | Young Harris College put on an offensive clinic Tuesday afternoon and beat Erskine 5-0.
Leho Le Louarn notched a goal and an assist, and the Mountain Lions registered 18 more shots than the Fleet.
QUOTING HEAD COACH DEAN GREY:
"Today adversity hit prior to kick-off, but our response provided the product on the field. The unit showed up on and off the field in back to back games. Now on to Saturday, which becomes the most important 90 minutes on planet earth."
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Ian Aycock got the start in goal and made a great save on a low shot from Erskine's Gavin Hardwick in the opening minutes.
- Leho Le Louarn's hard shot was saved but tipped out of bounds forcing a corner kick. Thomas Kleinpening booted a beautiful cross into the box and Bjorn Jonasson headed it home to put the Mountain Lions up 1-0 in the first twelve minutes of the match.
- Sergio Llopart lifted a long ball to Charlie Wilde. Wilde took it, dribbled past two defenders, and crossed it to Filip Zander who tapped it into the back of the net, increasing the Mountain Lions lead to two.
- Ty Kuiper earned a free kick on the edge of the box and launched the ball towards the low left corner, but Carlos Murguia turned it aside. This led to another corner for the Mountain Lions and YHC capitalized again on the set piece. Louarn lofted the ball in and got it back from a defender. He served another ball into the back post and Sacha De Corte buried it home, giving Young Harris the 3-0 lead.
- Early in the second half, Stanlee Etienne made a great run into the box, trapped the ball, took two dribbles and an Erskine defender clipped him from the side. This earned him the penalty. He stepped up to the spot and buried the shot high into the net for his first goal of the season. Etienne's goal put YHC ahead 4-0.
- Louarn scored the Mountain Lions fifth and final goal of the match in the 71st minute. Llopart crossed it to Louarn who headed it high past the keeper for his third goal of the season.
