YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris Athletics is proud to announce that the turf renovation on the soccer and lacrosse field is complete. The Mountain Lions worked with Sports Turf Company, a specialty sports construction and surfacing company, to complete the artificial turf field renovation. The field renovation consisted of removing the existing artificial turf surface and installing a higher performing, more durable system, featuring an industry leading 60 oz. of fiber.

"We couldn't be more thrilled with our new state-of-the-art playing surface at our soccer and lacrosse facility," added Young Harris Athletic Director Aaron Bessey. "Our sincere gratitude to Sports Turf and AstroTurf on their high-quality product, timely installation, and second to none customer service. Our Mountain Lion student-athletes couldn't be more eager to get out there and protect our new home turf!"

"We're honored to work with AstroTurf to replace this 1^st Generation Rootzone system, the AstroTurf Rootzone system has proved it's longevity with 11 years of playability for the Mountain Lions," Sports Turf Company President Todd Wiggins said. "It's also been a great privilege to work with Young Harris College on this project. They place a high-level of importance on their facilities and we're grateful to work alongside of them to provide a durable, high performing system for both their soccer and lacrosse programs."

Since the turf was originally installed in the summer of 2013, there have been three major foundation settling repairs and multiple tear repairs. Sports Turf Company began the replacement process by removing the existing artificial turf system and installing a system focused on durability and performance. The artificial turf system features Astro Turf's 3D Decade System, with an industry leading 60 oz. of fiber. AstroTurf's Decade system is a performance artificial turf that combines slit film and monofilament fibers, with a RootZone layer of texturized fibers for optimum durability and better shock absorbency that includes a 10-year warranty.

This upgrade will improve the playing safety and conditions for our student-athletes and community partners who also utilize the field for camps, clinics, and competitions. Student-athletes have already expressed their approval of the new turf out at practice, mentioning how it feels smoother, is safer to play on, and gives them more confidence.

Women's Soccer will have the honor to debut the new turf for their first home regular season match against Mars Hill on Thursday, September 5^th at 5:00 p.m.
