YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's soccer team battled the Trojans from Mount Olive, North Carolina on Thursday (Nov. 7) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field. At the half, the Mountain Lions and Trojans were tied at one apiece, with both teams playing great matches. With less than eight minutes remaining in regulation, a pass from Kenna Boothe found Anita Roese and she buried it home to take down UMO, 2-1; advancing to the second round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

• Shania Harris scored the first goal of the match in the 17th minute, and Morgan Kasel picked up the assist. 

• Addison Dangler scored the lone goal for the Trojans, scoring on a pass from Tianna Hill. 

• YHC was challenged early and often, as UMO rattled off 18 shots (9 SOG). 

• Mckenna Peaster recorded eight saves, facing nine shots on goal. 

• YHC has three corner kicks, while UMO had one. 

• The match featured 12 YHC fouls, and 13 fouls committed by the Trojans. 

• The Mountain Lions fired off 13 shots (7 SOG). 

• The Mount Olive goalkeeper Samantha Gildner recorded five saves while facing seven shots on goal.

With the win, the Mountain Lions advanced to the Conference Carolinas Tournament Quarterfinals. The playing field has been set; YHC will face Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolinas on Sunday (Nov. 10) afternoon at 2:00 post meridiem.
