BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. | Young Harris College men's soccer fell 3-2 to Chowan in the Conference Carolinas Tournament semifinals on Friday night.
Jamie Lapsley scored twice for the Mountain Lions. Chowan scored two goals in the first half and Matt Doyle scored the eventual game winner in the 46
th minute.

"The further you get, the tighter the margins. We had really good flows of the game, but the defining moments weren't enough on the day."
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Junior Smith got Chowan on the board in the 24th minute. Robbie Deighan threaded a pass to Smith, who juked one defender and laced a shot into the back of the net for his 14th goal of the season and the 1-0 lead for the Hawks.
- Four minutes later, Young Harris capitalized on a corner kick. Chowan's keeper punched out the corner and Lapsley immediately sent a shot back in through traffic that found the back of the net to tie the game at one.
- The tie didn't last long. In the 30th minute, Sam Deacon received a chip pass and smashed a shot from 15 yards out that got past Paplomatas to give Chowan the 2-1 advantage.
- Charley Leech took a free kick for Chowan in the opening minute of the second half. Matty Doyle got a head on the free kick, directing it into the back of the net to extend the Hawks' lead.
- Lapsley struck again for the Purple and White in the 59th minute. Sergio Llopart lifted the ball into the attacking third, Leho Le Louarn passed it into the box, and Lapsley buried the 12-yard shot to bring Young Harris within one, 3-2.
- The Mountain Lions had two quality chances to tie it in the final five minutes but couldn't convert the equalizer.
- Chase Jansen made three saves in goal for Chowan.
