YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Clayton State University scored twice in the final 16 minutes to rally for a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference men's soccer victory Wednesday (Sept. 28) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Lakers improved to 4-4-2 overall and to 3-3-0 in the PBC, while the Mountain Lions fell to 4-2-3 and 3-1-2. Young Harris returns to action Monday (Oct. 3) when they travel to St. Augustine, Florida, for a 1 p.m. PBC match against Flagler College.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Young Harris opened the scoring in the 33rd minute as Edoardo Righetti converted a through ball from teammate Angelo Panarello to give the Mountain Lions a 1-0 lead. It was Righetti's second goal of 2022.
- The Lakers tied the match at 1 at the 74:01 mark as Isami Tackeuchi knocked in a rebound of Geo Rios' initial shot that YHC goalkeeper Henrik Timgren turned away. It was the first goal YHC had allowed in nearly 500 minutes (496:09).
- Clayton State took a 2-1 lead 10 minutes later as Isaac Pimento scored off a Rios cross.
- Young Harris outshot Clayton State 14-7, but the Lakers held a 5-3 edge on goal. YHC also held a 7-1 margin on corner kicks.
- Timgren registered three saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
