Mountain Lions finish in fourth place at Bracket Challenge

HOMER, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's golf team finished in fourth place Monday (April 4) at the Bracket Challenge hosted by the Univrrsity of North  Georgia.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • The Bracket Challenge was a medal match play event on the par 72, 6,878-yard layout on the Chimney Oaks Golf Club.
  • In the semifinals, Georgia College and Young Harris tied with 2.5 points. However, the Bobcats advanced to the championship match by winning the tiebreaker, which was dropping the highest score for each team (Georgia College 309, Young Harris 320).
  • Against Georgia College, Laurens Schulze-Doering  (76) and Will Ranieri (80) won their head-to-head matches and Harry Redman halved his match with a 78.
  • Against Truett McConnell University in the third-place match, the Mountain Lions fell 4-1. Schulze-Doering won his match by eight strokes as he fired an one-under par 71.
  • The Mountain Lions will return to action April 15 as they travel to St. Simons Island, Georgia, for the Peach Belt Conference Championship.
