ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | Andrea Fernandez's free kick 2:31 into extra time gave Flagler College a 2-1 double overtime victory over Young Harris College in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer Tournament Thursday (Oct. 27) afternoon at Saints Field.
The No. 2-seeded Saints improved to 11-3-2 and will face the winner between No. 3 seed University of North Georgia and the No. 6 seed Georgia College and State University at 1 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 29) in the semifinals, while the No. 7-seeded Mountain Lions see their season come to a close at 4-11-0.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Josefine Nilsen scored on a shot from 10 yards out from the left side to give Flagler a 1-0 lead at the 27:18 mark.
- Maya Cramer tied the match at 1 at the 65:55 mark on her first goal of the season. Cramer's shot from five yards out was set up by Morgan Kasel's corner. Kasel found Thea Juul in the box and Juul passed it to Cramer.
- It would stay that way until Fernandez's free kick from 30 yards out from the left side gave the Saints a 2-1 lead at the 92:31 mark. Fernandez's shot went into the upper right corner of the net for her 18th goal.
- YHC goalkeeper Havyn Isaac stopped a career-high 13 shots for the Mountain Lions.
- Flagler outshot the Mountain Lions 31-5, including a 15-2 edge on goal.
