No. 20 Mountain Lions open PBC action with 1-0 shutout of Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | Saad Maziane's goal in the 59th minute gave the No. 20-ranked Young Harris College men's soccer team a 1-0 shutout of Flagler College Saturday (Sept. 18) afternoon at Saints Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 5-0-0 overall and to 1-0-0 in the Peach Belt Conference, while the Saints slipped to 2-3-0 and 1-1-0. Young Harris returns to the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field Wednesday (Sept. 22)  for a 5 p.m. PBC and Battle of Blood Mountain contest against the University of North Georgia.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Maziane's fifth goal of the season can at the 58:40 mark. Pato Padilla crossed the ball into the box from the left side and found Maziane, who knocked it into the center of the goal.
  • Young Harris leads the all-time series with the Saints 8-1-1, including a 5-0-0 mark in the Ancient City. Young Harris has recorded six shutouts in the series.
  • Eduardo D'Avino and Henrik Timgren combined on the Mountain Lions' third shutout of the 2021 season. Each netminder picked up a save.
  • YHC held a 11-6 margin on shots (5-2 on goal).
  • The Mountain Lions enjoyed a 9-2 edge on corner kicks.
