No. 20 Mountain Lions march by Saints 3-1

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The 20th-ranked Young Harris College men's soccer team used three goals in the first half en route to a 3-1 victory over Limestone University Saturday (Sept. 11) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 3-0-0 and will return to action Wednesday (Sept. 15) when they host No. 8 Lenoir-Rhyne University at 7 p.m. The Saints fell to 2-1-0.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Mikkel Goling became the third different YHC player to score twice in a game this season.
  • Goling, who has three goals in 2021, gave the Mountain Lions a 1-0 lead when he headed in a cross from Quinn Thompson 60 seconds into the match.
  • Joel Whittingham added his second goal of the campaign on a header off a Sondre Olsen corner kick at the 20:36 mark to give YHC a 2-0 lead.
  • Goling closed out the scoring in the first half when he collected a loose ball in the box seven minutes later and knocked it in the left side of the next for a 3-0 advantage.
  • The Saints got their lone goal on an Angelo Fabricio penalty kick at the 49:15 mark.
  • Young Harris held an 11-7 advantage on shots (8-4 on goal) and corner kicks 7-4.
  • Eduardo D'Avino recorded three goals in net for the Mountain Lions.
