YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Former Young Harris College men's soccer player Dani Fischer has signed to play professionally with the Saint Louis Football Club.

The Saint Louis FC is located in St. Louis, Missouri, and is a member of the United Soccer League Championship Division.

Fischer, a defender from Bruck an der Leitha, Austria, was named named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II All-America second team in 2019. Fischer was also named to the All-Peach Belt Conference team for a second time in 2019. Fischer, who was named  the PBC Defender of the Week once in 2019, scored twice - both game-winning goals - and added two assists this year. Fischer anchored the Mountain Lion defense which recorded seven shutouts in 2019.

Fischer is the 13th former Mountain Lion to sign a professional men's soccer contract.  YHC had five players ink professional deals in 2018. Carlos Gomez signed to play with the Greenville Triumph Soccer Club, while Mikie Rowe and Marco Micaletto signed to play with the South Georgia Tormenta FC, and Kevin Coiffic signed to play with the Lansing Ignite FC. The Triumph, Tormenta and the Ignite are members of the USL's League One. Macauley King signed to play with the Indy Eleven of the USL Championship Division.

Anuar Kanan signed with Las Vegas Lights FC in 2017. Paco Craig signed with Louisville City FC in 2016, while YHC Athletics Hall of Famers Niall McCabe and Ilija Ilic signed in 2015 with the Louisville City. Craig, McCabe and Ilic led Louisville City FC to back-to-back USL titles in 2017 and 2018. Ilic is a teammate of King in Indianapolis after he signed with the Eleven last season. Lewis Hilton signed originally with the Charlotte Independence in 2016 and now plays for the USL's Tampa Bay Rowdies. Samuel Mansour and Khurram Shazad signed to play for the WSG Swarovski Wattens in Austria in 2015.

The Mountain Lions, who finished the season ranked 23rd in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, completed the campaign at 12-5-0 as they claimed the program's fifth Peach Belt regular season title.  YHC earned its fifth trip to the national tournament in the last six years as they were the No. 6 seed in Super Region 2.
