ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | Young Harris College swept a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader from Flagler College Sunday (April 14) afternoon at Flagler Field.
Nikkie Kovalsky (20-9) threw a complete game shutout for the Mountain Lions en route to a 3-0 victory in the opener before
Louisa Disi (9-5) threw a no-hitter in a 2-1 victory in a weather shortened game two (five innings.)
Young Harris improved to 30-16 overall and 11-5 in the PBC, while the Saints fell to 27-20 and 11-6. The Mountain Lions host the University of West Georgia Wednesday (April 7) in a 3 p.m. contest at the YHC Softball Field.
The no-hitter is the fourth thrown by the Mountain Lions since Young Harris began playing four-year competition in 2011.
Kovalsky retired nine of the first 10 batters she faced in game one with four strikeouts.
Haylie Shope drove in the only runs of the game with a three-run homer to right center, her seventh of the season.
Kovalsky gave up six hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in the complete game shutout for Young Harris.
Shope tallied a hit, three RBI, and a run scored.
Jill Torres had a hit and a run scored, while
Emily Harris scored one run.

Kyra Gipson (15-9) earned the loss for Flagler as she gave up three runs on five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts in seven innings pitched.
Shope hit her eighth home run of the season to right center in the top of the first inning to give the Mountain Lions an early 1-0 lead.
Tatum Morgan tied the game at one for the Saints in the bottom of the second inning after drawing a bases-loaded walk.
Emily Harris drove in the go-ahead run for Young Harris with a single to left field that scored
Michalyn Bingham.
Disi picked up the win for the Mountain Lions as she threw a five inning no-hitter with one earned run and six walks and six strikeouts.
Shope and Harris each had a hit and one RBI. Bingham went 2-for-2 with a run scored, while
Carly Rigsbee tallied a hit.
Katlyn McCue (8-6) earned the loss for Flagler as she allowed two runs on five hits with one walk and three strikeouts in five innings pitched.
