HICKORY, N.C. | The Young Harris College women's tennis team split the day at the Best Western Duals Saturday (Oct. 5) afternoon at the YMCA of Catawba Valley.
The Mountain Lions fell to Lenoir-Rhyne University 4-1 in the opening match before taking the second match over Bluefield State College 6-1. Young Harris improved to 3-1, while the Bears improved to 1-0. The Mountain Lions conclude their fall schedule Wednesday (Oct. 9) as they travel to Bristol, Tennessee, to face King (Tenn.) University.
Young Harris swept the doubles point from Bluefield State, while winning five out of six singles matches.
Teona Urushadze blanked her opponent 6-0 in back-to-back sets to take the final point for the Mountain Lions in the No. 5 flight.
Carol Quevedo picked up the lone point for Young Harris in the match against Lenoir-Rhyne as she defeated her opponent 6-2 and 6-3. in the No. 3 flight.
