Harrison, Botti lead Mountain Lions in split with Pacers

AIKEN, S.C.  |  Hannah Harrison drove in six runs while Grace Botti added four in game one for a 15-4 victory (five innings) for Young Harris College before losing the nightcap 1-0 in nine innings as they split a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader with the University of South Carolina-Aiken Saturday (March 31) evening at J.H Satcher Field.

The Moutain Lions improved to 23-12 overall and 7-3 in the PBC, while the Pacers fell to 10-26 and 2-6. Young Harris returns to action Monday (April 2) with a noon PBC doubleheader against the University of North Carolina at Pembroke at E.D. Rivers Field.

Harrison started a seven-run first inning in the opener for the Mountain Lions with a three run blast over the fence in right center, her sixth of the season.

Murphy Davis doubled to center field to score Botti to make it a 4-0 lead for Young Harris. 

Jill Torres connected with her fourth home run of the season as she sent the 2-2 pitch over the fence in center field to drive in two more runs for the Mountain Lions. 

Harrison concluded the scoring in the first inning with a RBI single through the right side that scored Madison Urquiola.

Torres tallied another RBI in the top of the second for Young Harris with a single to center field that scored Georgia Webb

With the bases loaded in the top of the third inning, Botti crushed her third home run of the season over the right center fence to make it a 12-0 Mountain Lion lead. 

Webb doubled to left center in the fourth inning to score Kristan Lizardi for Young Harris

Harrison plated two more runs in the fifth inning with a dboule to right center that scored Fallyn Johnson and Kirby Tyner to give the Mountain Lions a 15-0 lead. 

USC-Aiken tallied four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. 

Louise Disi (3-2) picked up the win for Young Harris as she gave up three hits with one walk in four innings pitched.

Harrison went 4-for-5 at the plate with six RBI and two runs scored. Botti collected two hits, four RBI, and two runs scored. Torres finished with three hits, three RBI, and a run scored while Webb tallied three hits, one RBI, and two runs scored. Emily Harris had two hits and a run scored, Lizardi had one hit and three runs scored while Davis had one hit, one RBI, and one run scored and Johnson collected one hit and one run scored. 

Lyndie Dorgan (3-10) earned the loss for the Pacers as she gave up seven runs on eight hits with one strikeout in 0.2 innings pitched.

Georgia Webb started the second inning of game two for the Mountain Lions with a double to right center. After a couple walks to load the bases, USC-Aiken got out of the jam with a strikeout to end the inning.

Dharma Rosbrugh got Young Harris out of a jam in the bottom of the sixth inning after Aiken loaded the bases with one out. Rosbrugh got a line out to center field and a strike out to end the inning. 

The Pacers ended the game in the bottom of the ninth inning after a double by Lyndie Dorgan that allowed Kristan Lowery to come around to score on an error.

Hannah Price (4-7) picked up the win for Aiken as she gave up six hits with four walks and six strikeouts in nine innings pitched.

Rosbrugh (15-8) earned the loss for the Mountain Lions as she gave up one run on eight hits with one walk and six strikeouts in 8.2 innings pitched.

Harrison and Webb collected two hits each while Davis and Torres tallied one hit apiece.
