DAHLONEGA, Ga. | The University of North Georgia held off Young Harris College 6-3 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis victory Friday (March 23) afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park.
The No., 33 Nighthawks claimed the Battle of Blood Mountain match as they improved to 9-3 overall and to 4-0 in the Peach Belt, while the No. 44 Mountain Lions fell to 9-5 and 5-2. Young Harris returns to the courts Friday (March 30) when they host the University of Mount Olive in a 2 p.m. match at the Bob & Gayle NIchols Tennis Complex.
Elin Rundcrantz earned a 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-4 victory over No. 63-ranked Felicia Baratta at No. 1 singles for the Mountain Lions.
Maria Puerta also picked at No. 6 singles for YHC. Rundcrantz teamed up with
Laura Sanchez to claim an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
